Parents of Years 3-12 students
Following a detailed inquiry, the Federal Government recently passed legislation that will ban young people from accessing social media. This means anyone under the age of 16 will be blocked from using platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook. This legislation will come into effect at the end of 2025.
The research strongly suggests that excess time on screens negatively impacts the social, physical and mental health of young people. Screens, particularly mobile phones, also interfere with the attention needed for effective learning.
As a school community, we are in a unique position to help our young people manage their technology use.
On Wednesday 12 February at 7pm, join us for a webinar to learn about what the research is telling us and how we can work together to help reduce our children’s overall screen usage and empower them to use technology in more healthy ways.
